Coffee Smoothie

I made this one up when I couldn’t stand to sip on coffee in the morning and also needed some energy from food. Drinking is easier to do when it’s 90 degrees out. This shake doesn’t only give you that jolt you need in the morning but there’s natural sugar from fruit to keep you hydrated and makes it taste….SWEET

IMG_6360Ingredients:

1c of brewed coffee (I used the Kerig the night before and popped in in refrigerator to keep it cold)

1/2c vanilla almond milk

1/2 banana

1 tbsp chia seeds (let it sit in about 1/4c of water overnight to thicken)

1/2c ice cubes

3 dates

Directions:

Blend all ingredients together. Add a dash of cinnamon at the end.

Nutrition Facts:

19g CHO

5g Fiber

4g Protein

Fun Fact:

A 16oz (not even a large) frozen coffee from Dunkin Donuts is 530 calories and 88g of carbs. That’s more carbs and calories than a bagel! Before your next trip, consider making this one. It takes less time, it’s healthier, tastes better (I think) and saves you almost 400 calories.

What does 400 calories look like? 45 minutes in a spin class!
